Edie Sedgwick was such a lively, beautiful and vivid young lady. I recently finished her biography Edie - American Girl, and I saw the biopic Factory Girl starring Sienna Miller a while back. Edie was raised into all-American aristocracy and lived a very troubled youth. She met Andy Warhol at the age of 21, and like everyone else around her, Andy was fascinated with this beautiful, interesting girl with so many problems. Edie started hanging around Andy's factory, where drug use was prominent. Edie's erratic behaviour, drug use and chain smoking habit caused her to plunge into a downward spiral, a very glamorous, yet very tragic spiral. She became involved with Bob Dylan which caused Andy to distance himself from her. Edie died at the age of 28, in 1971. Edie overdosed on a mix of medication and alcohol, and her death was ruled as an accident. Anyone who knew Edie knew her for her adventurous, and outgoing personality, but her self destructive behavior got the best of her. Although Edie isn't the perfect role model, she has taught me to live my life in the moment, and just enjoy life for what it is.
