Mimran’s Joe Fresh show referenced some Parisian l’enfant terribles (Gaultier! Galliano! McQueen!) with on trend accents like rococo brocades and studs - the latter embellished jeans, denim shirts, leather jackets and belts. Classic Parisian touches like headscarves, tuxedo shirts, stripes, dotted blouses, and tailored black pants juxtaposed well against broody camouflage and chains.
The audience happily embraced a toned down colour palette in exchange for rich textures: fur skirts, leather tops, wool cocoon coats, and tweed jackets. A patchwork fur and Mongolian shearling coat was particularly striking – if the furs were supermarket-friendly faux, Mimran’s design team did god job maintaining an authentic look.
Mimran brought the show back home with tops that screamed “Joe Joe Joe” and signalled “The End” of the collection. The model’s hair resembled that of Parisian muse Ines de la Fressange. Famed Canadian models Amanda Laine, Heather Marks and Meghan Collison all strutted the runway at David Pecaut Square.
